We did know about Helmut Lotti and had
seen him perform in TV few times. But it was after we got his latin records
that we found out his ability to interprete well many of our beloved
classics like Malaguena. We had assumed that it would really need a latin
heart to perform well, so we were certainly not an easy pair to conquer. We
had to compair the performing against Los Panchos and to our surprise the
gap was smaller than we had expected.
We were further ashtonised as the
"From Russia With Lowe" was released. The Russian melodies were not anything
new, but the album gave us well spiced additions including the soviet based
national hymn. (From Finnish this takes a lot to admit). The record was
often played at our house.
In 2006 we ordered directly from
Helmut's Shop the new Crooners double-CD, which arrived with his signature.
Now we were surrounded especially during the weekends with ballad melodies
from our early childhood like Moon River, Blue Moon, Mona Lisa ja Hello
Dolly. The other CD was named My Way and we thought it to have some unknown
tracks that Helmut had chosen for the record. They also sounded quite nice
but then we noticed that the music and lyrics were by Helmut.
At this stage it was quite clear that
our original vision of a decent Belgian Cover-singer (13 in a dozen) had
radically changed. The next step was to acquire DVD Collections as the
most part of his production was also released as musical stories shown also
on the TV. Part of the tracks were concert recordings and part were
travel videos. The concert recordings have a great touch of joy in
performing. This is based not only with Helmut but also the specifically
picked choruses, the positive conducter and musicians..
We also acquired the DVDs "My Tribute
To The King" including the famous Elvis hits and "Out of Africa". The latter
is a great outdoors concert in a breath taking landscape combining
traditional and modern African rhytms.
In September came the new Time to Swing album and we were so glad,
especially as it had the great Fever in it. It's been our favorite
since the Finnish Royals from the 70's. And we also got recently the DVD
with Helmut's signature. He will have a concert in March in Helsinki.
