Report 3
Two brews with the Naked PF, Rocky
now in the value of 9, were made with similar amounts of coffee and a 13 kg
tamp. The brews were 50 ml in 25 seconds. You can here a comment after the first
brew. Afterwards, there were some water on top of the cake and the surface was
uneven. The second one was more dry and both had the best cremas so far.
In the first you can see some water
coming from the base of the PF and the second one has steamed water coming to
the PF as the top of the background plate shows steam.
The
shots explained above are on this video

I then tried to make some shots with
the normal PF but there were still many problems. The coffee flowed unevenly to
cups; 30 % and 70 % distribution and the quality was clearly worse. Maybe the
'horns' make the tamping more difficult and I need more experience.
I couldn't remove the filter from
the Naked PF and asked even some advice from Sweden. People at Ristretto even
told that there are PF's with fixed filters.
Well, using a lot force with I
managed to remove the filter and noted by comparison that it was a triple
filter. The regular PF started to work better as I tightened it more. My group
head doesn't have the red spot, so it is slightly difficult to figure out the
right place. Now the coffee flows to the cups evenly.
I also tried to brew fresh espresso,
that was roasted only few days earlier (by Cafetoria, Lohja). We had ordered
Gran Palomar espresso organico beans 250 grams. The first three shots were
strong ristrettos (20-30 ml and 30 s), but the taste was best so far.
